Donna Ginter's Thanksgiving Dinner Throwback T-Shirt
The Donna Ginter's Thanksgiving Dinner Throwback T-Shirt features a design found only at Dubuque Clothing Co., printed on a premium tee with soft, high-quality inks built to last.
Donna Ginter (1929-2013), known around town as the 'Mother on Main Street,' ran the Navy Club -- later the Silver Dollar -- with her husband Joseph, and became a Dubuque legend for taking care of working-class regulars and folks who had nowhere else to go. In 1961 she started inviting a handful of homeless neighbors to a free Thanksgiving dinner; by 2009 that dinner had grown to feed 2,542 people, funded in part by the Catfish Festival she launched in 1991. Ginter earned the Telegraph Herald's First Citizen Award in 1995 and her own day on the city calendar in 2009, and her family kept the tradition alive for 60 years before finally retiring it in 2024.
